we love mondays?

Things that turn Monday from blah to la-te-da? A holiday, a day with no work requirements, and a long late lazy breakfast! Yup, all of those would just about do it.

We decided to go with some puffed pancakes with strawberries this time around. Great choice if I do say so myself.

ice cream

I've been craving ice cream for three weeks. T H R E E W E E K S. I'm so not kidding. But not just any ol ice cream, I've wanted needed a very specific taste.. vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles. Unfortunately they just don't serve it up around here like they do up north (trust me, I've looked).

And well, contrary to these pictures, I still haven't gotten it. But I think Jeremy got a little tired of listening to me whine every night about how much I wanted it and bought me the most gigantic waffle cone from Ben + Jerry's. Delicious? yes. Messy? you betcha. Craving satisfied? not.even.close.

Nice try though husby. Nice try.

breakfast dates

If you've read any of our previous posts or know anything about husband and I you've probably figured out that breakfast (sometimes brunch) is kind of a major part of our weekends. This weekend we had planned on a light breakfast at Tryst and somehow ended up with a deliciously greasy breakfast at The Diner instead followed by a trip to Violet Boutique (thanks to Meaghan's recommendation! And she was totally right, you cannot walk out empty handed), a chance to browse the used bookstore, and a very hot walk around the district. In short, a lovely way to start the day!

chk chk

... that's the sound of the flashing lights from the papparazzi cameras going off because you know I'm kind of a big deal now that I'm officially a member of CapFABB! Okay, maybe I'm not that big of a deal, but still I'm way excited to be a part of this not-so-little group, because, well, they kind of are a big deal.

I can't wait to meet some of these fabulous DC area bloggers and venture out to some of their lovely meetups! Huzzah!!

CapFABB

psst... this blog has been a little bit of a secret between my hubby and I as we started it out as a way for us to chronicle our first year of marriage and beyond. Once upon a time, I did have another blog (my etsy shop has since carried on the name), one that I loved dearly, but one that at some point I could no longer identify with. So please bear with me as I navigate this new road and open our little world up to this much bigger blog world.

that neon buzz

It's amazing what a little neon paint can do to spruce up some old planters. I've had these Ikea pots stacked together under a chair on our balcony since... well, since whatever used to inhabit them took a turn for the worse (as is typical when any plants are left in my care).
Well, these pretty flowers might not last forever, but at least they get some time in these fabulous pots while they last.
